OPTICis an organized approach for examining visual or graphic text more closely. There are five parts: Overview, Parts, Title, Interrelationships, and Conclusion.
O is for Overview.

· What can you say about the girls’ attire?
· What can you say about the direction of their eyes?

T is for Title.
I is for Interrelationships.
· How does the title connect to the work?

· Share the title of the work.
· What new information does the title reveal?
· How does the title connect with the work itself?
· Why do you think the author chose that title?

C is for Conclusion.
· Draw a conclusion about the meaning of the visual as a whole.
· Summarize the message in one or two sentences.

· What message is this painter conveying about human behavior? (specifically, sisterhood, unity)
